QUIETLY COLLECTED HOUSE
The homeowners were seeking to bring a sense of calm and cohesion to their beautiful traditional home, which had evolved into a bright and eclectic mix over time. While full of character and meaningful family pieces, the interiors felt visually busy and lacked the serene, modern balance the client was craving. A key priority was honoring the home’s history by incorporating treasured antiques while guiding the overall design in a more refined,
intentional direction.
The ongoing refresh focuses on blending old and new to create a layered, timeless result. Upstairs, we designed a more grown and thoughtful bedroom for a college-aged daughter, refreshed the primary bedroom with new wallpaper, bedding, and upholstery, and renovated the primary bathroom by removing the soaking tub to improve both flow and function. A secondary bathroom received a light cosmetic update. Downstairs, all walls were repainted to create a more cohesive backdrop, the living room was re-furnished to feel warmer and more inviting, and the dining room was refreshed with wallpaper, paint, new lighting, and window treatments while preserving the existing antique table. The kitchen was updated with a custom bar area designed for gathering, with final furnishings and textiles still to come. The result is a home in progress that feels increasingly serene, intentional, and beautifully balanced.
