THE SECRET GARDEN
The homeowners wanted to brighten and modernize a dark, dated interior while preserving the character that made their home feel established and welcoming. The downstairs lacked cohesion, and many of the finishes felt heavy and disconnected from one another. Their goal was a complete refresh that would feel lighter, more inviting, and better suited to both everyday living and entertaining.
The design approach focused on renewing each space with a sense of continuity and warmth. New paint colors and updated light fixtures were introduced throughout the downstairs, beginning with a refreshed entry that sets the tone for the home. The kitchen was transformed with painted cabinetry, new countertops and tile, and updated furnishings that improved both function and flow. A custom limestone fireplace mantle anchors the living space, while the dining room was refreshed with painted cabinetry, wallpaper, and tailored window treatments, allowing the existing antique table to remain a meaningful focal point. The library was reimagined with fresh paint, new furniture, and styled bookshelves, and the powder room was updated with new wallpaper, vanity, and fixtures. The result is a thoughtfully layered home that feels bright, cohesive, and timeless.
